Section 1: Paddington - Reading At Paddington we see 50020, 026, 043, 030, 007 and 036. We join 031 for departure. 032 passes Old Oak. 031 departs Slough and 032 passes Taplow. 031 and 030 pass Twyford while 040 passes Sonning. 032 and 030 are seen at Reading.

Section 2: Reading – Exeter St Davids At Reading 50035, 024, 016 and 037 are on down services. 026 passes Aldermaston on the up service while at Newbury 026 runs round. Westbury sees 040 run round while 031 passes Frome. 025 arrives at Exeter St Davids.

Section 3: Exeter St Davids – Newton Abbot 50025 now departs Exeter St Davids. Dawlish Warren sees 031 arrive and 004 depart while Dawlish has 035 and 031. 031 makes a stop at Teignmouth. At Newton Abbot 035 arrives and 037 departs.

Section 4: Plymouth - Par At Plymouth 50050 arrives with stock for Glasgow/Aberdeen. 019 departs with up vans and 002 with up Royal Mail stock. Liskeard sees: 044, 028, 033, 041, 048 and 031. We join 010 forward. At Par 027 departs for Newcastle.

Section 5: Par - Newquay At Par we join 50041 on 11:10 Paddington – Newquay. A 142 comes off the single line at St Blazey. Goonbarrow sidings are almost empty as we pass with Quintrel Downs next. 005 runs round at Newquay and 027 also awaits departure.

Section 6: Par - Penzance We now return to Par and 50010 departs. At St Austell 012 arrives and 031 departs. 031 arrives Truro after signal check. At Redruth 028 stops on a Penzance – Paddington service. Penzance sees 012 in the station. 018 is in the dock and 028 is picking up a Motorail carriage for Paddington service.
